Valentines Day #ThrowbackThursday: Ian came to us with the idea of preparing a romantic dinner for his girlfriend Jen for Valentines Day, 2006. Jen loved Paris and Ian wanted to turn his apartment into a romantic Paris setting where he would surprise her with his gift, a romantic trip to Paris. Ian’s Valentine’s Day surprise for Jen was nothing short of adorable and we were so excited to assist!
We created a pair of hand-painted facades, themed ‘Jennifer’s Boutique’ and ‘Cafe d’Amour’ to set in Ian’s dinning room. The facades were accented with hand sewn pink and red curtains along with a window box full of pink roses, turning his dining room into a sidewalk cafe table for two. We sprinkled trails of rose petals from room to room and filled his apartment with soft pink votive candles. After a Chef prepared dinner, Ian lead Jen down a path of rose petals to his living room where he surprised her with his gift, set by a replica of the Eiffel Tower.
Why all the hype? Unknowingly, he had plans to propose to her in Paris, in front of the Eiffel Tower!! Unfortunately, we were not given the invite to Paris.
However, we were invited to decorate their engagement celebration that followed. We began with those same Paris street facades and replaced the Boutique sign with ‘La Maisan d’ Ian et Jen’ to symbolize their future home together. These were set behind the buffet table at the fabulous Manor Tavern. In order to help Ian and Jen’s families get to know each other, we prepared personal name tags indicating their relationships to the engaged couple. The name tags were accented with tiny pink hearts surrounding the Eiffel Tower.
Ian and Jen’s Paris-inspired love affair was a pleasure to be a part of. We hope you enjoyed our #ThrowbackThursday. Our team at Innovative Party Planners wishes you and your loved ones a very special Valentine’s Day!
