As Zozzie & Heidi Innovative Party Planners continued to grow, so did the amount of stuff they accumulated. It was exciting, scary and cramped. They filled every available room in Zozzie’s home and even took over the children’s bedrooms once they left for college. It was time to move.
First, they hired Richard, a commercial real estate agent who took them to see old barns, old homes and giant warehouses throughout Mt. Washington, Pikesville and Owings Mills. One morning, Richard took them to 11459 Cronhill Drive, Suite N. Zozzie pointed out the sky lights, the soaring ceiling and the abundance of parking. Heidi said it felt familiar and remembered coming there with her daughter to play in what was formally a Gymboree. They both agreed that this space felt right.
They took out loans, signed a lease, and invested in their growth. Karen, an office space planner, strategically designed their studio to include a showroom, an office and a huge art space with lots of storage and function.
Growing meant more staff. That lead to buying a phone system, a network of computers, art tables, shelving, office furniture, and a coat of paint to cover the Gymboree clowns. They brought in high speed ‘wired’ internet and invested in a huge paint spray booth. They then filled the space with their art supplies, files, rentals, artwork and creativity.
They hired Jason, a caricature artist, to sketch a fun drawing for them to use to advertise the move. Back in 2001, before blogs, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat and Twitter, they sent out post cards to all their clients to announce the move.
